100 employees ? from WIKA managers to office and production employees ? spontaneously registered to pack meals for starving children across the world in two-hour shifts. WIKA USA was a Gold Sponsor, providing hundreds of volunteer hours and donating $50 per volunteer to support the function. Her first Hunger to Hope day was an event she would long remember: ?It was emotionally very touching. Once you fill a bag with vitamin powder, soy protein, rice, and dried vegetables, you actually see what will provide six meals for someone who has nothing to eat. Each bag represents a child.?
WIKA has participated in this event before, but only with 50 employee volunteers. ?This time around we had a lot more than 100 people who wanted to volunteer?, Jones said. ?But as a manufacturing plant, we have on-time delivery goals. With a total of 900 people in Lawrenceville, we decided we’re able to spare about 100. We definitely had no problem filling those spots.?
